According to legend, in the 17th century, a Sufi saint named Baba Budan smuggled seven coffee beans from Yemen and planted them in the hills of Chikmagalur, Karnataka. These first coffee plants laid the foundation for what would become one of the world's most unique coffee-growing regions.

Over the centuries, coffee cultivation spread across the lush Western Ghats of South India, particularly in Karnataka, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu. Blessed with rich soil, abundant rainfall, and ideal elevations, these regions became home to thriving coffee plantations producing both Arabica and Robusta coffee.

Today, India is renowned for its shade-grown coffee, cultivated under a canopy of native trees and spices such as pepper, cardamom, and vanilla. This traditional farming method not only protects biodiversity but also imparts distinctive flavors to Indian coffee, making it highly sought after around the world.

Coorg, often called the "Coffee Capital of India," plays a significant role in this legacy. Its rolling hills, cool climate, and fertile soil create the perfect conditions for growing premium coffee beans with rich aroma, balanced acidity, and full-bodied flavor.
